You have the mechanical know-how to change oil, change a tire, and perhaps do other maintenance or changes on your vehicle. The problem is… you simply don’t have the space to do the work. Maybe you live in an apartment complex where spaces a packed. Or your HOA would go ballistic seeing your car parked in the driveway amid the countless number of tools needed to get the job done. No need to panic. GarageTime, a new app that rents out garage space from those who have it, has you covered. The Drive reports on the application that looks to match mechanics with people who have space.
When your car breaks down… the only options often are to repair it yourself or take it to a shop or dealership and pay their prices. If you have the knowledge on how to repair your car yourself, why let a little thing like lack of space stop you?
That’s where GarageTime comes in.
Created by Andrew Koretz of Denver, DriveTime serves a simple purpose. Like AirBnB rents out space to vacationers and business professionals, DriveTime matches up people willing to rent out available garage space with people who need it.
The owners list their available space on the app. The listing includes any rules and a list of tools that will be made available to the renter. The owner can then decide on an hourly, daily, or even monthly rate for using their space.
Current listings show a residential garage available for $15 per hour and professional garage bays with lifts for $50 per hour. GarageTime then takes a commission of 10% on all charges.
It is as simple as picking the garage they want and the tools they need and booking the hours they’ll need.
Currently, there are about 15 spots open nationwide.
